Women's Health and Menopause

According the the American Menopause Association, women over 35 experience declining estrogen levels. BodyByGeoff recognizes the importance of women to discuss the changes brought about by menopause and how to work through them.

Although there are many symptoms of menopause, many women experience two with which exercise can help:

Weight Gain
For most women, increases and shifts in weight begin during perimenopause — the years leading up to menopause. On average, most women gain a pound a year. So, if you start at 35, you could gain at least 15 pounds by age 50 according to the Mayo Clinic.

Change in Body Shape
Increased physical activity, including strength training, may be the single most important factor for maintaining a healthy body composition — more lean muscle mass and less body fat — as you get older.
