10 Most Embarrassing Massage Questions

1) Am I supposed to tip the Massage Therapist? If you are pleased with the service, 10-15% is a normal tip. You can pay it directly to the therapist or put the tip on your credit card.

2) Am I supposed to take off my underwear during a massage? This is completely up to you. You can elect to wear "bikini underwear" to allow the therapist to get to the hips or lower back. The therapist will keep you draped with a sheet throughout the massage and only uncover the portion he or she is working on.

3) Will the Therapist be in the room while I undress? No. The Therapist will take you to the room and close the door, where you will undress and get under the sheets in private. He or she will then knock on the door to see if you are ready.

4) What if I drool or snore during the session? Both are natural and show you are very relaxed.

5) How do I know if the massage is legitimate? You should answer a health questionnaire. The Massage Therapist should display a license from either the state, city, or county government.

6) What if I am embarrassed about specific areas of my body? Remember, the massage therapist sees people of all ages, shapes and sizes. However, you can always ask them to avoid a specific area.

7) Should I talk during the massage? Should the therapist talk? Talking is up to you. However, be sure to tell the therapist what is helpful, too much, etc. during the massage. And, if you want quiet-time, don't be afraid to tell the therapist.

8) What if I have to use the bathroom during the massage? It's your hour, let the therapist know your needs. However, it is a good idea to use the restroom before you massage and have a little water. Drink lots of water after the massage.

9) The Therapist's technique is too little or too much? Tell them, you want to feel good and for the massage to be helpful.

10) I want a male or a female therapist. Most places have both. Don't feel you have to justify your choice.
